So I have begun making pharmacology flash cards on-line that I can use to study all the different drugs that I need to know. The flashcards include class, route, mechanism, adverse effect, and contraindications for each drug. If you want to use them if they help then great if not...no worries.
Till next time....

The Barn
Hey everyone,
Taking a study break quick to show you the barn....So the barn is where we study it's supposed to be called "swing one" but it is literally a huge building with cubicles and tables. Every day we usually sit in the same seats, very territorial study places here! I switch between a cubby and a table, tonight I am at a table with Kyle, Kassandra, and Casey. So Kyle and I are studying for our next mini, Kass is watching a movie, and Casey is studying for her NCLEX (which she is going to kick butt on in December)! Thats it for now just studying away!
Till next time....

Week 7 begins
Hey everyone!
So this past week was crazy busy like I mentioned before, I had an exam last friday which went pretty well. Histology, actually pretty interesting and then I had a Mini on Monday and an Anatomy lab practical on Monday as well. The practical didn't go the way I wanted it to go but I'll just try to do better next time. So after Mini's everyone takes the night/rest of the day off, so my friend Casey and I got all ready like we would in the states and went to get dinner and meet up with everyone at Champ's to have a good time for the night. It's amazing how back home I would get ready every day where here I put makeup on once a month! The rest of the week was busy with classes and lab, I dissected the thigh and top of the leg on Thursday which was very cool. This weekend is a great study weekend and my friends and I are taking a morning break and going cliff jumping which should be awesome and we all need a little break from the books. So I hope to get some pictures on our morning trip and I'll post them as soon as possible.
Tonight was the Bristol Bowl where the ESPN people played the Bristol Cops. My amazing boyfriend played and wore the number 12 (my favorite number) for me. Unfortunately they lost pretty bad tonight but they had fun playing for charity. Jay got popped in the nose and it might be broken but he'll find out tomorrow if he has two black eyes. Well I'm glad the BPD played well and had a good time. It was a great cause for which you were playing! Well I'm off for the evening, time for bed.
Till next time!!

Rain Rain go away come again another day!
Rainy season is here in full force today...my umbrella flipped inside out while walking to class. Put my polkadot rain boots on. The rivers are all flowing very strong and the water in the apartment is brown from the over flow of all the rain. Thank goodness for Britta! Oh and here is the doppler for tomorrow what do you think my day will be like??

Rainy Saturday
Hey everyone!
I know it has been a little bit since my last post but I had my first exam which went ok, not as well as I wanted but overall ok. Next one will be better! So we have a tropical depression hanging around which has only brought us rain but I don't mind because my days have been spent in the barn. Again the barn is my study spot. I'm hoping to get a picture of the barn to post, maybe tomorrow. So an update with my life/school work....
I have been working on my very first patient for the past 3 weeks, that is my cadaver. The first day I was supposed to go in I was so scared because I had never seen a body before never mind dissect one. But when you think about the fact that this is a great opportunity that these people have given me; they want me to learn and become a good doctor as their last act on earth. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity but the labs are LONG. I go to lab to dissect for approximately 4 to 5 hour sessions, and the human body is amazing and complicated all at the same time. One thing that is difficult is all of the adipose tissue (aka Fat) that the body has in EVERY location! One day post lab I decided I would never have a cheeseburger again because of all the adipose tissue I cleaned, and I haven't yet but it didn't stop me from having a cookie with my subway the other day!
I have been studying for this week coming up. I have a histology lab exam on friday, and I have a global exam on monday and then I have my anatomy practical on monday as well. All of this has made my life pretty much the same as always. Oh, great news the other day someone told me that Dominica was on Man, Woman, Wild, the TV show that has a couple surviving in a desolate place...that place is my new home go figure! Here is the link to one piece of the episode if your interested in watching. I got mail this week, I received wonderful letters and a package which brightened my day, well after I waited in line for the customs agent to look through it and then charge me for what was inside, but that didn't stop me from being the happiest person because I got letters; so thank you!
So my friend Casey down here who is my friend Mike's fiance is going to apply to be on the show Say Yes to the Dress, over April break from medical school they are flying up to NYC to go to Kleinfelds because she is a huge fan and dreams of having her dress from there! I really hope she gets on the show because I'll totally have to tag along. Well I think I've bored you all enough, again I love getting all of your emails and updates and I am so sorry I take forever and a day to respond. Please forgive my tardiness :-). I leave you with a picture of a histology slide and the link for Man, Woman, Wild.
